Senior Study Technician will research the safety, effectiveness and toxicity of drugs that are in early development phase and/or chemical substances
Job Responsibilities:
Ensure animals are cared for in accordance with regulatory guidelines and with the highest scientific, humane, and ethical principles.
Perform animal husbandry duties as needed.
Report all animal care concerns and becomes involved in resolution and appropriate corrective action, when necessary.
Understand regulatory requirements (including those concerning USDA and AAALAC).
Interpret and understand complex protocols.
Understanding of good research practice (GXP) principles.
Operate various data collection systems.
Understand technician requirements, (including but not limited to):
Animal room requirements/ upkeep, time / study management, data organization / review, QA/QC audit response, communication skills and quality check procedures.
Ability to work across groups with more than one species.
Maintain client confidentiality at all times.
Understand requirements for basic and complex study conduct.
Independently running studies (complex study designs, multiple species etc.).
Ability to identify and take appropriate action with problems, potential problems with protocols, SOPs and schedules.
Interpret and understand complex protocols.

Perform various clinical observations.
Perform data measurements varying in complexity (including but not limited to):
Body weights, food consumption, tumor measurements, body temperatures, Draize scoring, blood pressure, ECG, neurological examinations, etc.
Perform dosing techniques for various species, (including but not limited to):
Perform basic and advanced sample collections (may include):
Blood, urine, feces etc.
May perform non histological tissue collections.
Handle animals with proper restraint methods.
May perform various methods of euthanasia across multiple species.
May perform anesthesia & sedation across multiple species.
May perform aseptic techniques and procedures.
May perform standard or complex blood processing procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
3 years or more of experince as a Study Tech working with small and large animals in CRO (Contract Research Organization)
Associate?s degree in veterinary technology or related program OR Bachelor?s Degree in Animal Science, Biology, Wildlife Studies, or related life science field OR 2+ years of college in related Sciences field AND 1-2 years of hands on large or small animal care in laboratory/research or farming operation.

AALAS Certification
