Schedules interventional, invasive and noninvasive appointments requested by physician offices and by patients who are in need of outpatient testing. Servicing the Bon Secours Charity New York Market. Provides excellent customer service and adheres to the productivity and accuracy performance measures established for the call center. Maintains knowledge of the individual tests and the requirements needed to perform accurate and timely scheduling. Coordinates testing to ensure that patients and physicians are accommodated in a manner that does not require extensive wait of a second visit. Disseminates department schedules to the appropriate waitlist, ensuring that all patients are scheduled appropriately.
Responsibilities:
Schedules invasive/non-invasive outpatient procedures for the Charity New York Market using the Connect care Cadence scheduling system.
Collects minimum data needed for registration ensuring accuracy and completeness. While demonstrating a cheerful positive attitude.
Interpret physician orders
Understands resource, tech, radiologist, nursing availability, procedures and equipment limitations
Obtain all clinical, H&P and orders when appropriate
Add exceptions to schedules
Communicates prep, recaps appointment information to ensure accuracy, advises registration arrival times and location to callers.
Searches and books procedures using auto and manual search functions.
Transcribe orders as needed
Completes WQs as assigned
Maintains all waitlist and schedule promptly
Attends on-going system training and participates in departmental in-services to increase knowledge of procedures, resources, processes and flows.
Handles difficult or upset callers with utmost professionalism.
Communicates cooperatively and constructively with patients, area supervisors, families, co-workers, administration, other clinical departments, providers, community agencies, referral sources and other health team members.
Serves as a liaison between the physician office, patient and the department or registration team when applicable.
Maintains a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Performs any necessary follow-up to ensure positive patient/physician experience.
Adheres to the BSR attendance policy.
Adheres to departmental attendance policy
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience: 1-3 years experience of scheduling experience of outpatient services, physician order processing and medical terminology preferred.
Education: Associates degree or the equivalent combination of experience and training within the medical field required.
Licenses / Certifications. N/A
Other: Knowledge of diagnostic and specialty procedures preferred. Knowledge of insurance pre- certification requirements, ICD- 10 required. Knowledge of ability to utilize skills specifically related to conflict management required. The ability to use multiple software systems within Bon Secours required.
