28 hrs/wk; 7-hour shifts, 4 days per week. The RN Diabetic Health and Wellness Educator provides comprehensive education and support to patients managing diabetes and related conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This role offers individualized and group instruction on essential self-management skills, including glucose monitoring, medication management, nutrition, and lifestyle modifications.
The educator works closely with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate diabetic programs, promote continuity of care, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. Key responsibilities include documenting patient education, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, serving as a resource for staff and families, and empowering patients to achieve improved health outcomes.
A current Registered Nurse license in the State of Nebraska is required, with strong knowledge and experience in diabetes care preferred. A BSN is desirable, along with recent hands-on experience in diabetes education. Candidates who hold a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) or Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) credential—or who are willing to obtain certification within two years of hire—are strongly preferred. Experience with insulin pump management and an understanding of adult learning principles will further support success in this role.
