Responsible for definitive diagnostic information in 2D/M-Mode Echo, Pulsed Wave and/or Continuous Wave Doppler and Doppler Color Flow Velocity Mapping (TTE) as well as Stress Echo (SE) and Transesophageal Echo (TEE) in the adult population. Responsible for pediatric TTE. Will be accountable to the cardiologists during interpretation of studies performed.

Responsibilities:
Performs TTE, TEE, SE in both the adult and pediatric population including measurements of cardiac structures and doppler gradients using the computer-assisted analysis package and in accordance with the IAC Echo Guidelines. Recognizes artifacts and technical problems and eliminates probable sources. Prioritizes all procedures and situations within the department. Recognizes need for contrast & initiates standing order. Prepares, documents, and accurately administers IV contrast per department policies and procedures. Recognizes abnormalities and reports to physician in a timely manner. Repeats various portions of the study at the request of the cardiologist or coordinator. Responds to cardiologist during their interpretation of studies. Assures that patient charges are generated, and documentation is completed and accurate. Maintains established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environment and infection control. Increases clinical knowledge through one or more of the following: journal review, textbook and video training aides, membership in local echo club and in a national or international association. Actively pursues ARDMS or CCI registration. Attends in-service and other meetings as required. Actively participates in performance improvement process to include evaluating, reporting and follow-up recommendations. Trouble shoots minor equipment problems and helps evaluate new equipment.
