The Employee Occupational Health LPN will provide direct care in Occupational Health to assist in the COVID -19 pandemic. This will include but not be limited to determining incidence and prevalence of infection among encountered staff members, make employee phone calls, track exposure groups among departments and job titles, identify asymptomatic personnel, flag extended discharge data and identify trends, follow-up lab results, and ensures that COVID operations are proceeding in an efficient manner with all personnel operating at the top of their license. This is a temp position, not to exceed 2 years but may be extended based on agency needs. The Employee Occupational Health LPN performs all duties within the scope of his/her license including medication administration. The LPN is technically proficient in initiating, performing and completing assigned duties in providing care to employees, volunteers, and others authorized treatment in Employee Occupational Health. He/she will ensure that all privacy, health and safety standards are met to safeguard the health and well-being of employees across the organization; and to mitigate potential risk to the facility. He/she works collaboratively with all levels of staff within the facility The position reports to the Nurse manager of the Emergency Department with oversight and direction of daily assignments through the Chief of Occupational Health. Observe, identify and respond to the patient's care needs for care, medication, equipment assisted care and patient/family education Performs support duties for complex diagnostic tests and/or specialized practices or procedures, which include preparing the patient, assisting in the diagnostic examination, preparing and handling specialized instruments or other specialized equipment, and monitoring the patient's condition before, during and following the procedure Provides reporting, communication and documentation in the computerized record system with other members of the multi-disciplinary health care team Administers medications within the scope of their license and hospital policy; prepare, administer and appropriately document actions taken specific to commonly prescribed oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular and/or intravenous medication Assists in the entry of data related to the activities of the Occupational Health program including vaccination reports, questionnaire reports and exam results complete administrative duties as needed that may include but are not limited to workload capture, preparation and maintenance of employee medical files, prepare and schedule visits in collaboration with HR or designee Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, day tour with episodic requirement to work weekends and beyond tour to meet agency needs. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Preferred Experience: Minimum of 1 year of increasing nursing practice Knowledge and basic skills in computer and word processing/spreadsheet application experience. BLS required References: VA Handbook 5005/27, Part II, Appendix G13, LICENSED PRACTICAL OR VOCATIONAL NURSE QUALIFICATION STANDARD, dated April 10, 2003. The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-6. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is in the range of GS-3 to GS-6.
