The Licensed Practical Nurse performs nursing care for adult and geriatric patients with a variety of physical, mental, behavioral or psychological needs by applying practical nursing knowledge and skills. This occupational series is eligible for the Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP). Repayment is limited to $10,000 annually, up to $60,000 in lifetime awards. Participants must sign a service agreement and maintain an acceptable level of performance to remain eligible for this program Duties include but not limited to: Proficient in initiating, performing and completing assigned duties in providing care to variable patient populations. Carry out assigned patient care based on the patients' conditions Ability to observe, identify and respond to the patient's needs for care, including medication, equipment-assisted care and patient/family education. Serve as a responsible member of the nursing team. Interact in an appropriate manner with patients, family, members, professional and other support personnel involved in the delivery of patient care. Incorporates acceptable established customer service standards into practice. Provides effective education to patients and/or family member in relation to disease processes, medication and/or prescribed treatment regimens after collaboration with RN and/or health care team. Document in CPRS. Documentation will include patient's response to medication and/or prescribed treatment regimens and the reporting of any unexpected change in patient's condition to RN or provider. Understanding of human behavior, patient motivations and reactions to situations, and ability to appropriately utilize this knowledge in working effectively with patients, family members, and other staff. Establish constructive relationships with individual patients and their families to elicit feelings and attitudes, and to promote positive relationships, communication and socialization skills. Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform occasional heavy lifting and carrying of 45 lbs. and over. Straight pulling is required for intermittent hours as well as pushing and reaching above shoulder. Must be able to stand and walk for an extended period of time, use of both hands and legs is required. Ability to kneel and repeatedly bend as well as ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4; far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and tp 20/40 in the other as well as color vision; specific hearing requirements. Duty Location: Grand Forks, ND CBOC Work Schedule: Mon-Fri. 8:00 am - 12:00 pm (Part-Time), 20 hours per week Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
