In this role, you will serve as a pharmacy advocate for patients on behalf of the clinicians prescribing medication. Your primary focus will be coordinating access to specialty take home medications.
The Pharmacy Liaison works as part of a high-performing, interdisciplinary team of nurses, physicians, and other health care providers in a rewarding, fast-paced work environment in an academic/clinic setting. This is a unique position allowing a pharmacy technician to utilize/develop pharmacy and leadership skills.
This position will train on-site and then may be asked to work remotely for a period of time.
-Educates patients on their insurance prescription benefits
-Communicates expectations, timing, and process capably to patients, caregivers, and clinics
-Expedites patient access to specialty medications by identifying and resolving barriers on behalf of clinic care teams, including: Submitting and following prior authorizations, Supporting providers by assisting with appeals, Coordinating fulfillment of orders with dispensing pharmacies, and assisting patients in being able to financially afford their medications
-Advises patients on their specialty pharmacy network and identifying limited distribution alternatives
-Acts as an advocate for our specialty pharmacy
-Partners with multiple specialties and clinics
-Develops expertise in (at least) one clinical specialty to act as a subject matter expert for the larger liaison team, clinic, and our partners in access services
-Establishes relationships with industry representatives and reimbursement managers to maintain current knowledge on available financial assistance programs
Bachelor's degree in business or healthcare related field or equivalent combination of education and related experience
One year of pharmacy technician experience
Registered as Pharmacy Technician with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy
The ideal candidate will have experience in pharmacy, working with specialty medications, prior authorizations, and/or coordinating work with multiple stakeholders. Communication skills, interpersonal skills, adaptability are critical. Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment, work independently, to grow and develop, and to be an integral part of the team is necessary.
