As our Clinical Systems & HL7 Analyst, you will help us in providing unparalleled care to youth and families at Boys Town hospitals and clinics. Under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Systems, you will assist with requirements gathering, research, design, testing, building, implementation and maintenance of clinical software systems. You will plan, design, build, and maintain HL7 and other system interfaces as well as provide support for clinical and hospital activities. In this role, you will also perform clinical workflow analysis and make suggestions for improvements that will result in better clinical information management and workflow.
Implements and/or supports implementation and maintenance of Boys Town National Research Hospital software systems. Performs workflow analysis, recommends, develops and tests changes to clinical systems that will improve hospital and clinic operations.
Uses MS SQL, Visual Studio, and other tools to troubleshoot, analyze, and modify clinical systems. Identifies, diagnoses, and corrects systems issues.
Gathers requirements for, analyzes, implements, tests, and maintains interfaces and interface engines.
Provides second tier support for hospital staff using clinical applications. Documents support in a timely manner.
Works with hospital staff to assess the needs for clinical systems. Involves hospital staff in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical systems.
Updates technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house and/or external courses, reading manuals and evaluating new applications.
Documents changes in clinical information systems per change management policy.
Manages multiple projects and determines proper job priorities. Communicates priorities and status to customers effectively.
Ensures compliance with applicable standards and regulations of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), The Joint Commission, and all other applicable regulatory agencies in collaboration with hospital policies and procedures.
Works collaboratively with hospital leadership team to establish health information management structures and processes that focus on patient safety and quality patient care.
Promotes the culture of safety and a non-punitive environment.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
4 years' experience with implementing and maintaining software systems
Previous experience with HL7 interface engines, preferred
Previous experience in healthcare technology, preferred
Previous clinical systems experience preferred
Excellent oral and written language skills and ability to communicate clearly with administrative, clinical, and other users
Ability to prioritize and organize a variety of tasks
Excellent customer service skills along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to provide after hours and on-call support.
