Under the general direction of the appropriate Laboratory Director, the Bilingual Research Assistant performs work potentially of considerable difficulty in various phases of research studies including data collection, data management, management of informed consent and other IRB protocols, equipment calibration, and ordering of supplies.
Manages the laboratory schedule, including coordinating visits with laboratory schedules, preparing all needed procedures and forms, and managing financial details (e.g., subject payment, petty cash, and mileage reimbursements). Ensures that appropriate staff are scheduled for each data collection visit and that procedural details are ready for each session.
Regularly enters data into lab databases and ensures scoring and data accuracy.
Performs data back-up for all laboratory experiments.
Ensures that all laboratory materials, supplies, and equipment are ordered and available.
Performs or assists in the recruitment of research subjects, including special populations. Collaborates with laboratory PI and other lab staff to understand recruiting needs.
Performs or assists in testing of research subjects.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish and English, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work well with others, including colleagues at all levels.
Knowledge of computer software systems like Microsoft Word, Excel, and other database applications.
Ability to use a variety of office equipment including personal computer, copier, and telephone.
Ability to prioritize work appropriately, to work independently, and to complete tasks in a timely manner in an active work environment.
High school diploma or equivalent, required.
Spanish bilingual communication skills are required.
Minimum of some college coursework.
Coursework in communication disorders or special education preferred, but coursework from related areas may be considered for exceptional candidates,
Interpersonal skills, ability to attend closely to detail, math aptitude, and flexibility in duties performed.
